NOTICE: On June 1, 2010, the public CAPS/Ionops TEC data and images are no longer available. The IFM-based TEC data products have been superseded with a new state-of-the-art data assimilation model (GAIM), which includes high-resolution TEC, HF radio propogation paths, and much more. The CAPS team is pleased to announce that the ionosphere products, provided by the Space Environment Corporation in Providence, Utah using a physics-based model (IFM), have now been upgraded using a state-of-the-art data assimilation model. The new higher accuracy data products are available from the USU Space Weather Center (http://spaceweather.usu.edu). Please contact W. Kent Tobiska (Director, SWC) or Robert W. Schunk (P.I., USTAR Project) through Shawna Johnson of USU SWC (shawna.johnson@usu.edu).
Visit the guide to installing and running the real-time Earth Space 4-D global 4-D ionosphere using Google Earth, which includes the required kml files. This is a dramatic visualization tool showing Earth's ionospheric Total Electron Content. Due to the dramatic increase in demand for our visual demonstration of space weather affects on the ionosphere, the free ES4D images - which are intended for educational purposes - represent the ionosphere approximately 3 hours prior to the current time, and are not automatically refreshed.
